Over the weekend it was pretty warm and sunny, high 80's Saturday and 91 yesterday. The line of storms is moving our way for this afternoon and tomorrow, their saying some could be severe. Everything is really dry and we could use 2 or 3 days of light steady rain instead of those hard pounding storms. Whatever comes will be welcome by the plants and the cooler temps that will follow will feel much better than the heat we've had the past week.
Built an outside pen off the back of the new chicken house Saturday morning. So funny watching the little ones all pile up at the pop door daring each other to step out on the ramp...chicken chickens Smiling A few brave ones enjoyed munching the grass and digging for bugs later in the afternoon. Yesterday they all managed to figure out how to navigate up and down the ramp and had a good time playing in the grass, dirt and sunshine.

We ended up with absolutely no rain after the weatherman had us having severe storms. It is going to be another hot 91 degree day with still no rain.

They are calling for a high of 98F. That means it could get to 101F at my place.

Worse than that are our neighbors a couple houses away. They blast the stereo so loud that I can hear it in every room and this with the windows closed, of course. I think this is wrong. This has been going on off and on for four years and I am fed up. I have called the police two times so far. If they blast today, I'll be calling the police again. It makes me so angry and I have zero tolerance for their crap anymore. (I have already contacted the guy about the noise and he basically said that I was the one in the wrong.) DH says that I should just put up with it and accept it as a fact of modern life, but I will not settle for that.

Great Big Ugly Grey Mounds of clouds moved in late yesterday afternoon. Lots of thunder and lightning ......wild winds whipped up and are you ready for this ? ..................about 9 drops of rain fell. That was it .........then the clouds moved off and the sun came out and dried up all 9 drops. Something better give soon. I have a bloom on Galaxy Explosion today .......the scape is about a foot and a half tall where normally it comes in over 3 feet tall . That should give you some idea of how little rain we have had and how badly we need some .

Very bad storm hit Tucson last night. Did not seem to be expected. A roof blew off a church, trees down all over and some still without power this morning in the foothills area. We were 19 miles across town at our evening church service when it started. We drove home thru some of the worst rain we have seen. Had to dodge Palo Verde branchs and parts of huge limbs that were barely visible on the roads. Traffic lights were out as well. DH was driving and I was co-piloting yelling out about the branches he had trouble seeing. A miracle we got home safe and sound and that our wash was not up or else we would have been stuck sleeping in the car. Crying Rain at our house was only .20, lots more in other parts of town.

Signet, I am very sorry you missed rain yesterday. I hope you get some soon. Drought is so very stressful, as is the heat we have been getting this spring.

It looked like we were going to get rain yesterday afternoon, too. Clouds moved in and it got windy, but when I looked at the radar you could see the clouds separating and moving around us. I think areas north and south of us got some significant rain. We got a very short shower, just enough to wet things a bit, but the sun dried it all up. We aren't desperate yet, because we got a heavy rain a week ago, however, it has been very dry all spring, and things are very parched.

Same thing happened to us. I think it rained lightly for 2 minutes, if that.

They are calling for a high of 94F, which means that it could be 97F at my place. I didn't check the temperature but it felt like it got to around 100F yesterday. It's too early in the summer to be getting that hot.
