Last 11Jun2016 as we headed to Yosemite, we saw the signage for a cactus nursery in Ripon, CA. Made a mental note to visit it next time.

So we went back last 18Jun 2016. Really enjoyed the visit. Finally a good cacti and succulent nursery in our own county woohoo! So temperature and growing conditions will be the same as mine. I usually source my succulents from nurseries in the Bay area, so it is a struggle to acclimate them in my area at times.

Roadside view:

California as we all know is still in drought conditions:

Exploring the selling area and display area. Heat temps is intense here in San Joaquin County, so the plants have a protective shade cover, still allowing light to pass through. There are two big large fans inside the selling area, continuously blowing air around.

I really liked this yellow piggy with that cluster of succulents, not for sale, unfortunately, but it is very pretty:

This one is not for sale, but I really like how this succulent grew nicely in that topiary-like shape:

This one is really interesting, cacti growing upside down:

I also enjoyed their landscaping in their garden, a real showcase: finding beauty in an arid landscape and incorporating a nice water feature too:

I used to visit Poot's quite often when I lived in California (home was about 15 miles away). Mr. Poot is a real gem and walking encyclopedia (if you can get him to talk) Smiling

He is the one who told me he "weeds" his cactus garden with Roundup.

Nice photos Tarev. Brought back fond memories.

What a fun place Tarev! You got some cool stuff. That Rebutia pulchra is really neat looking. I love that plant growing in the piggy. Do you know what it is? Thank you for sharing your adventure.

Daisy, always fun to go down memory lane Smiling

Audrey, sorry I did not get the name of that succulent in the piggy planter...so I just took a photo of it. Oh yes, I do love that Rebutia pulchra a lot! So appealing with its flattened spines so it is not prickly. Been reading about it, and I like that it will grow in nice clusters.

A cluster of those beauties would look pretty cool. Are they a slow grower? I really do not know anything about that plant. Well, whatever that is growing in the piggy pot it sure looks happy to be there!

I wonder how they got it to grow upside-down without it trying to right itself? Confused

That is a good question Adam..sorry I did not ask when I was there. At first I thought it is a remnant of a fibrous plant stake or something, but seeing the green new growth way downwards, it was quite interesting indeed.
