I planted my Catawba grape vine 2 years ago and this is its first year bearing grape clusters. I have only had trouble with Japanese beetles so far, but now I find some of the leaves are turning yellow with blood red spots at the tips. What is happening?

I know nothing about grapes, but just throwing out there that I have some gooseberries that grew an excellent crop of berries this year and they too were having some issues with yellowing spotty leaves. I upped the fertilizer for them and that seems to have cleared it up. I'm thinking they were low on nitrogen. Maybe since this is the first year they are making grapes they need to be fed more?

Maybe I should try that. I had read that grapes wanted dry soil without the need to fertilize and not to water too often. Maybe I took this to an extreme! Thank you very much! Thank You!

You're welcome. I hope it does help. I know it is so frustrating when these plants we tend get sick and you don't know how to help. Someone else here probably knows grapes and might chime in too.
