There are a ton of grasshoppers in my yard. When you walk through, every step has 20 of the tiny nymphs flying from your feet. Studies show that 6-7 of these little turds per yard will eat as much as a cow. I've been trying to control them with semispore bait, but it isn't putting a dent in them. Their main breeding ground are grasses in sandy areas. So the area we don't mow by the wetland and the entire park across the street. I went over there yesterday and there were easily 50 to 75 grasshoppers per yard. When grasshoppers get too crowded, they morph. They get big. They become what is affectionately known as a locus swarm plague. Do you think if I presented this to the city, they'd come out and treat the park?

I don't know what number you would call, but here in Columbus OH we just cal 311. I think it goes to the mayor's office. It depends on the problem, and who owns the property, but often times they can do something. If you don't have a similar number, look up code enforcement for your area, they may be able to help. Good luck! Crossing Fingers!

Your County Extension service might also be of help to you with this, Robyn. Ask for your Agricultural Extension agent, they handle issues like this for farmers so no reason they wouldn't be able to help you. If the land is city or County it is their responsibility.
