An errant fly got into the house, and found its way by my carnivorres...I was watching which one it will favor...and will any of my carnivores have a lunch delight:

The carnivore lair, I brought down Pinguicula gigantea as well, normally it is upstairs:

So the fly went in and around one of Nepenthes max x vent pitchers, such a tease! It choose a partially dried out pitcher so it just went in and around. But it was really attracted to the pitcher:

I was hoping it will move to the other fresh pitcher, but no dice..I guess it knows it is safer in the partly dried out one:

Too bad, it did not become a meal today..I was hoping it might also get stuck at least on the Pinguicula,..oh well..better luck next time CP's!

Your gigante catches flies? My Gigante hybrid doesnt. And to be honest, I swear it's going dormant, not catching anything but the smallest of morsels being out side.

Hi Brendan, no, my Pinguicula gigantea was not able to catch that fly..unfortunately, I was hoping it will, since all the leaves were really sticky. That fly was sure wise enough to avoid being trapped by the carnivores, it just played around the dried out pitchers of my Nepenthes.. My pings are usually good with fungus gnats..but there is none to catch right now indoors.

Pings are generally not able to catch house flies, the flies are too strong. But my Drosera capensis plants do a great job. Flies seldom last more than a day or so in my house.

None of my Pings or Neps have ever caught flies. Only my capensis plants do so - quite efficiently.

My Sarracenia plants pitchers outdoors often get filled nearly to the brim with all sorts of bugs by the time they go dormant in late fall.

Yes, it is educational knowing what types of bugs gets trapped in whichever type of carnivore. It is not a one size/type fits all nodding
