As a comment about Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Olallie Keith Stone's Sunset'), DogsNDaylilies wrote:

The registered bud count for this is 12 buds and I seem to recall confirming that average bud count with the hybridizer after seeing it bloom in my own garden; however, THIS year, it is FAR MORE than that. As of June 16th, I have four scapes with counts of 27, 32, 42, 56, for an average of about 39 buds per scape!!! I have not fertilized this plant or done anything special to it. It is in the same spot as last year, but this year it is more established and I think that has a lot to do with the substantially higher bud count. It is also a bit taller this year than last year, too.

2016 first (four) blooms appeared on Father's Day (6/19). Interesting, considering last year it's first blooms were on the Fourth of July. This plant likes to make it's appearances on holidays, it seems. :D
Last year (2015) was it's first year in my garden and the first blooms last year on Olallie Keith Stone's Sunset *were* a crimson red and, later, blooms were a bright orange... But these first four blooms this year (2016) are an unmistakeably coppery, gold-dusted color, and the petals are still highly recurved. It's gorgeous! And all four of these blooms were definitely fragrant from about 8" (give or take) away.

Thank you! It can vary in appearance...lately it has been throwing blooms with washed out (white) edges, likely because it has been very hot and dry here. This morning it rained really hard and I have very vibrant coloring today, so I think it varies based on how much water it gets. Shrug! Currently, the only place you can purchase it is Olallie Gardens here: http://daylilygarden.com/garde...

Despite the color variations, I highly recommend it! It's such an interesting flower! I'm a bit biased, but it really has impressed me these last two seasons!

Since this daylily is special to my family and is so hard to get, I need to grow some out to give to my family members first. In a couple of years, though, I should have some to share with you if you haven't purchased it yet; so, keep it on your wish list and definitely add it to your garden, but keep in mind that if you're patient, you have a friend willing to send some your way at some point in the future, too! Thumbs up

Awesome!!! Please put me down on your list because I don't know anyone around here that has it. It really is nice to know it's back story. The aviator I have is a picture of a Daylily hybridized by Charles Douglas. The name of the daylily is Donna Lynne's Delight. (2014) He is a good friend and he named it after me. I might have enough if it to share. It really is beautiful. We could trade. Lol Thumbs up
