Yes, named varieties too please, but if you possibly have some colored noids you could include for our group that would be great... we could share them among the people who order (and Chantell of course, even if she sticks with noids!)

I'll check your list again... browsed last night and was lovng two dark red ones from germany and some others, will see what you still have... can you hold some for us or just see what you have next month?

I was planning to mulch the edges at least of the rock garden with a good inch or two of chick grit (is turkey grit cheaper Chantell?) and plant the semps there... may also put succulent mix into pots and snuggle them into the bed (moisture from surrounding ground plus better drainage in pot).

Turkey grit and chicken grit are the same thing. Usually larger than the chicken grit. They are all good, except the smallest of the grits, which is used for baby chicks. Way to small, almost like coarse sand.
Our farm store carries #1, #2 and #3 being the largest and #1 being the smallest (to small).

Thx!

I'll t-mail you a list of ones I'm looking at... will ask you to cut it down for me if there are any that you don't think will do well in our humidity or any that increase especially slowly... No need to save particular ones for me (well, maybe one of those dark red ones from Germany that start with D) if you can sell them elsewhere, as I pretty much love your whole list LOL,

At this time I have plenty of Dornroschen and Drachenblut.
How long have you been growing semps, and which ones do you have? That will help in understanding what will work for you.

5 years or so, with varying degrees of success... which is to say, I only have a few right now, and I think they've lost their tags. *Blush* the Pacific ones didn't do well for me, most others made it through their first winter. I think Teiderheid is the one in a pot in the rock garden now, and it has survived despite weeds. I'm hoping to provide plants in teh little rock garden "island" with extra attention, but you know what they say about good intentions. I was thinking bigger ones wouldn't get overwhelmed between weeding sessions?

Can I put down Preen around semps?

Yes, Preen would work.
And when you give me your list please remind me about wanting larger, tougher varieties. I have some very large robust cultivars that would probably do well for you.

"very large robust" sounds perfect! I should probably just give you a number (6? better make it 10) and let you pick for me. I like purple, pink, red (Drachenblut or Dornroschen), crushing on the pink stolons that some have, and love watermarking (Dolo, Lady Kelly). I can't imagine being disappointed in any variety that has made the "cut" to be included in your collection. And of course you can pick a couple of extras for me if there's room in the box... We'll see who else is interested in ordering with me, too.

Lynn - any 'very large robust' pinks or purple semps. I'm so clueless...thank you for your patience with my questions. Group hug

Chantell, the best way to decide on what you would like is to look at the list. Be sure to click on the photos to go to the database entry. There you will see many photos in different seasons. Many of them change colors with the seasons and weather conditions. If you see something you really like we can talk about size and if it is robust and a good producer of offsets. Like this one. Just look at all the color changes it goes through. This one is a good grower and has been a very tough semp for me. Also produces lots of offsets every year. Medium sized.

Yes to 'Amanda'

I was looking at the following as well...please let me know if any of these fall into that 'robust' category:
Sempervivum 'Drachenblut' or 'Jeramia', 'Smit's Seedling', 'Zepherin',

I have had all of those except Drachenblut for many years and they have proven to be sturdy semps. Drachenblut in the few years I've had it as been a robust semp.

I think Jill is going to set up a thread to keep track of the group buy. She will let us all know when she has the thread open and ready. That would be the best place to make your list.
Don't send any money until we have completed the order. Smiling

Yes, that would be easier all the way around, and probably cheaper in the postage end, thus making each variety cheaper. Hurray!
