I live in zone 7b. A couple years ago I planted Crassula perforata 'Variegata'
and it seemed to do well for a little while, even through winter (which was mild). In very early spring it died. I had given some to a friend and he said his did not make it through winter. I can't seem to find hardiness zones for this.

When I find more of it I plan to treat it as a houseplant and will let it play outdoors during the summer, but I would love to get it to grow in a future succulent bed.

Crassula perforata 'Variegata' is not hardy in zone 7 outside - its minimum temps are in the mid to upper 20's. They do well as house plants though.

Thank you Daisy! I will plan a place to "install" pots for various succulents with that same issue. It will be spring before I build the little garden I have in mind for cacti & succulents so I have plenty of time to plan it. I hope to make it tiered so some of the succulents will have an opportunity to cascade. With spaces for pots planned I can then bring these guys out to work on their suntans over the summer (I can hide them in the shade of bigger pots).

Bob, you can surely grow them outdoors during the warmer months, but hide them indoors when your cold weather returns.

I see my Crassulas suffer cold conditions when temps goes below 30F and got wet..so very important to keep them dry when temps are quite cool to cold.
