I am way off topic for this thread hope you don't mind the OT chatter. This time of year things start getting really crazy around here. I always get extra plants for my family and plant swaps. I have to keep them here until they are big enough or it is nice enough for them to go outside. The prices of the HGHA Annual plug sale are so good, I can't say no. The first year I think I lost half of the plants and they were still cheap. Most are very tiny plugs not much more than started seeds like Begonias Dark Foliage Dwarf 87 plugs for $7 and Coleus 87 plugs for $7. A few of them are in 4inch pots like the pansies that are big enough to plant right into the garden $12 for an entire flat. I have boxes and boxes of caladiums coming, too. Sure can't wait to get the GH up this spring. I figure I will have it filled and still have a lot of plants in the house.

How is that off topic Holly? It's about plants in containers. Thumbs up Wow, I don't think we have any sales like that around here. I just don't think I even want to think about taking care of that many baby plants. But it sure would give you a lot of trading power. Smiling

Hilarious! Hilarious! Guys I do try to stay on topic but I can easily get side tracked. It is going to be a busy week again and I will plant my lava rock after we do the Phila. FS tomorrow I usually come home with a few plants from that show. Not a lot but maybe I will find something nice to go in to the lava rock.

If it's about plants, I don't think you can call it getting sidetracked.

My husband found that out the other day. He was saying some thing about a green house. I got all excited and wanted to know where it was. Hurray!
He was talking about the neighbors that live down the street in a green house. Sad
Was I disappointed. Rolling my eyes.

Thanks Lynn, I thought I would put together a tour of the show over in Mid-Atlantic Musings. I'll put a link to it with a few pic in one of the chat threads for you all. Plus extra pics of the semps and sedums. I could put it in your Tours of Gardens Forum.

Holly, what's the lava rock? I love using the small chunks as mulch even though it's really pricey, but when I was in Dawson Creek, in northern B.C. Peace Country I had access to some huge chunks, big as your head, and I so wanted to make some holes in them to plant stuff. I bet I could have sold lots!

Still looking for some more from around here, but no luck yet.

Blue Fox, I have had it for years. It's a piece of lava rock with planting holes. I still haven't planted it but I will, and will post a pic when I get it done. The succulents came in at work today and I came home with a pile of them. Just what I need to plant my big blue strawberry jars. I will have to wait another week or so to plant them as the new succulents are not hardy.
