A true classic from Conway And Loretta, and maybe a classic in the making opening for the first time ever today!!

Thumb of 2016-07-04/Ahead/a79262

Why did this bloom make a Social Security member (starts this month) yelp with excitement? The form is awful, but look at the green and the buds, on a first year seedling! My first seedling to bloom from THE LADY OF SHALOTT X SEARCH FOR GREEN PASTURES.....so I am very excited.

I always ignore the first blooms if they look less than perfect because I know the following blooms will be much better. Please post a photo of the subsequent blooms on that seedling, Steve. It looks like it is going to be a wonderful possibility! The bloom also looks quite large? Love that large green throat! Thumbs up

Even the first bloom of the season on my registered ones very often look awful. So when its time to update the pic in my photo album i always ignore the fist bloom and wait for the ideal one. I too am loving that green.

The first bloom is not always the prettiest for sure, but sometimes the first bloom is perfect and even the largest bloom produced for the season. I have often wondered if daylilies are like peaches, if I had a daylily that produced a flush of buds, say twenty and I pulled all of them off just leaving one nice fat bud, would that grow to be humongous?

Love the green throat and vivid color ahead!! And like Rod Stewart sang "The first blooms are the weakest" or something like that. Ok char, no political comments. How about a political question? Can I at least find out if either presidential candidate is for outlawing daylily abortions within the first 42 days or so of pregnancy? I wanna vote for them. Goodbye The Band Played On x Tetra Malachite Prism and thanks for the 3 1/2 weeks of excitement.
