Hurray!
Yesterday evening my husband and I went to eat pizza at a restaurant really close to our home. We often go there, nice people and very good dishes. Anyhow, I noticed before that the owner had some Stella de Oro clumps in a side of the garden. Yesterday while I was walking out I saw some buds that looked familiar, so I looked better and ta-daaaa a marvellous spidery daylily was in bloom. So I called the owner, she told me she doesn't know if it has a name or not and I don't know where she got it from. So I showed her some pics of mine and we agreed on an exchange, I'll give her a fan or two of one of mine and she'll gave me one fan or two of that spider. Stupid me I didn't take any photo, it's kind of lavender/blue with pink in it. I'll arrange for the end of the blooming season, next time I'll go there I'll take a photo to identify it! Oh, too bad, the lady told me someone steals her flowers from the little garden. Angry

That was a nice surprise. It is wonderful to find another person that enjoys your passion for gardening. It is too bad someone steals her flowers, though. I can't imagine enjoying stolen flowers, but I think it happens far too often Angry

Oh! How wonderful to meet a another daylily lover. That may be the beginning of a future Daylily Club! Smiling Maybe she should grow them at her home as well, since someone is stealing the restaurant plants! (How horrible!)

It was a nice surprise indeed.
I don't know why people do such idiot things. The restaurant has a really nice entrance, it's an old building with stones in the wall, and the little garden beds are on the sides of the stairs to get inside, so nice decorated with many flowers.
She laughed when whe told me about this, but it's the only thing one can do, laughing at how some people show their ignorance.

But now I am too curious about that DL, I really have to take a pic!
I know I'll gave her some Siloam Merle Kent. The past year I was not aware of what I was doing, I divided plants here and there and now I have SMK growing in four spots!!! And I didn't even know I had it! Hilarious! Hilarious!

Yes Valerie, big problem!! But I'm still searching for Nile Plum, I had one plant tagged with that name (I ordered it) and now at its place I have Siloam Merle Kent!!!! There's the last chance to find it, a small fan with small buds that I'm waiting to see what is. If it's another fan of SMK I will report to police as a case of stalking!

My goodness Sabrina. Wonderful. You should think about swapping your daylilies for her pizzas. Yum.

I hope you find your missing Nile Plum and it is the last hold out waiting to bloom. Otherwise, you will be involved in a police investigation Hilarious!

Hi Sabrina
great to swap plants. It is nice knowing people, who you know will appreciate them. My children aren't fond of daylilies so I enjoy reading these forums. As well as learning heaps. Swapping is some insurance against losing a plant to theft or disease. However, people move so it's not always a reliable backup.

I don't mind people taking flowers or cuttings, but not the whole plant. It's nicer if they ask rather than just taking. I once didn't take a cutting of a double pink hibiscus because the people weren't home to ask. A few weeks later they had dug out their front shrubs to do some big scale yard work. They saved and replanted most of them but not that one.
