The Delaware Valley Iris Society (Philly area) and the Susquehanna Iris Society (Harrisburg/Lancaster/York area - aka South Central PA) are joining forces for a combined Iris rhizome sale on July 16th at the "Jenkins Arboretum" in Devon PA.

http://jenkinsarboretum.org/

The sale is from 10AM to 1PM. Here is info from the DVIS website.

http://dvis-ais.org/home.html

So, who is going?

@DaveinPA
@Snork
@Starwoman
@Islandview

I am still on the fence about going. Twist my are you all!! Maybe we can get a group shot?? I know this is a long way for Stacey (aka Starwoman) to drive, but no harm in asking!

Glad you brought that up as I've been debating myself for weeks whether to go or not. I want to go. However, it's a bit of a drive for me (though nothing like Starwoman's possible journey!) as I've lived in the big city most of my life and moved in the area just the past year. I'm still a little shaky in my driving skills. If for some reason I don't go, I'd like to find someone close by (Middletown, DE) who plans to go and is willing to take my extra rhizomes for the sale. I have plenty to give away.

Tempting but with 58 ordered/traded/rescued and a gift cert to Schreiner's for another bunch [estimated at 34 varieties] I will be swamped with adding new garden areas/beds. So for now will say I can't be tempted, but ....

If I go, I will be "working" it as it were. The last time I went (last year? Gee the memory is not so good) I used my cell phone and was on the ATP Iris database showing pictures of the available rhizomes. I was quite the enabler!!!

What do you have a lot of? You only have 16 irises on your list; and I like a bunch of them! lol

You are only an hour away, of course it might be a "crazy" crowed drive. I don't know. I am two hours away, but I think it is an easy kind of drive.

I made a list of what I want and it is a whooping nine strong. Eight new ones and one replacement.

(of course, I need more irises like I need a hole in my head! Whistling *Blush*

Greg,
Is your list one of "hope it is there" or "I saw a list?"

Greg,
I've only started entering irises that I have the past couple days. I enter them one at a time whenever I come across their description pages. If you know of an easier way to export my "have" list which is in Excel format into ATP, let me know, as I have, uh, ahem, about 550 irises. I got my farm last year and excited with the idea of having almost unlimited land (at least compared to the big city), I went a bit overboard in buying irises. Let me know what is on your want list and any other you have in mind, and I'll check to see if I have extras.

Dave - The "list" I am talking about was made from the 16 listed irises that "Islandview" has on their plant list. There are 16 on the list and I made a list of nine (1 replacement and eight new). But now I find out that Ivor has 550 irises! Drooling

9/16 = X/550 Solve for X.

Looks like I am in trouble

Ivor,

I am not aware of any way to import a list of what you have to your plant list in your profile. You are going to have to do it one at a time.

The easiest way is to go to the main Iris database page. In the "search" box start typing the name of the iris. The database will start a "suggested" list of results based on what you type. Pick the one that matches it and that will bring that cultivars page up. Down at the bottom of the page is the "add" button to add the cultivar to your list. I don't see an easier way to do it.

That math would equal

309

OMG That is crazy numbers. I don't have a field to plant to. I am close to capacity as it is. This is why loses are not at all too devastating as it means I can replace with something new!

Unless the losses are new ones which die before you get to see them. That IS sad.

My "bad" number for wanting Islandview's irises changed because Ivor added another plant to his list. And I have it so it would be one I don't want.

So the "crazy" number went from 309 cultivars to 291 cultivars.

Interesting note: I have 5 of the 7 other cultivars on his list in the "don't want" list!?!

I like your choices in LA's Ivor. And I have some of the same "wants". Just not this year - as a wanted too many already!

My "Wants" are different depending on the season. On about February I want everything I see. Then as soon as the new introductions are presented, I scrap all of that February stuff and go crazy wanting the new ones. Then Right about now, I look at all the work ahead in this week of 90ish weather and look at what I ordered, and wonder Hmmmm what was I thinking, then it hits me that there's going to be some bonus irises, and I start to panic! Blinking

I am so on this same bandwagon. I have an order coming, no garden soil in my bed, and a huge clap of thunder started as soon as I pulled in my driveway. When am I going to get things done!!!! (Panic emoticom here)
