My first attempt at removing a bloom stalk. It's been almost 2 weeks, and there is certainly new growth. I can't tell weather they're offsets or additional flower stalks. Anyone recognize this new growth?

This is 'Nanette'. Her surgery was right around the same time. She's not taking it as well as the noid above.
I was hoping to force a rosette or 2. I've only had this heuff. for a couple months.
The removed flower stalks of both were simply placed in the surrounding soil. Both are pushing out closed blooms.

Terri, your first picture looks really good to me. I don't think two weeks is enough to conclude anything, but the fact that there's no elongation going on in there is encouraging. Yet they may turn out to be flower buds... like mine. Here's mine from maybe three weeks ago and there are definitely some bloom stalks happening. Shrug!

It seems like the pointy tips are a dead giveaway that flower buds are coming. In Terri's first picture, the buds seem more like tiny new rosettes.

Hard to say but nice pictures!! Terri I've found that the huefs somehow seem to live through most of the bloomings that mine have had, never have done the surgery on a heuf - since none have needed it. Interested to see what transpires from yours.
Tim - you can keep picking the flower stems off, I've done that and have had success.
I tip my hat to you.

LOL, I suppose I could have researched this before chopping 'Nanette' up. *Blush*
I'm happy to know about the pointy leaves thing. That's a valuable little pearl! Thumbs up
I'll have no problem doing this to any other semp, if need be.

That is definite success Greg. Especially if the resulting offset is the only one left for the cultivar.

Nice going, Greg! I've had success with that noid I posted earlier. Now I'm ready, and totally confident when I need to do it on a named semp. Hurray!
h 'Nanette' was a different story. D'Oh! She was not the least bit amused. She's taken to dropping all the leaves from that particular stalk. I apologized.
