It is extremely hot and humid, but the ground is dry here. We need rain badly. It went around us yesterday. We got wind, thunder and lightning, but not rain, so I'm out watering plants this morning. Thumbs down

Same here, lots of rumbling and lightening but no water.

Its been like that here for nearly a month - thunder, maybe a few sprinkles, enough to see drops in the dark. Makes the humidity & flies worse. You don't water because you just know its going to rain. Then it gets too hot so you decide to water tomorrow.

I live in the ARK-LA-TEX region. That little corner where Arkansas, Louisiana, & Texas join. I guess I should be in a "Deep South" region if we had a forum.

RasogardenerMNE,
Welcome, not sure your part of the world is included in the Southeast, but I do think I could enjoy being a gardener in a place like this!

I have been very fortunate to have received several small showers in the past two weeks. This morning it started thundering and lightning about 11:00 and we got maybe a quarter of an inch of rain. I had planted some Amaryllis seeds a few weeks ago and the little showers have been just enough to help keep them damp. I noticed I had four little Amaryllis sprouts up in the bed this morning. The lightning did get a little too close in one of those little storms, lost a T.V. , a cable box and a network card in the computer, thankful that was all.

We had a wild and crazy storm last night. 60 mph winds, lots of thunder and lightening and not a drop of rain. I lost a few plants - literally - some small potted plants I had wedged in trees flew away in the wind. Maybe they will turn up but probably not.

Someone will say a year from now...on a plant ID forum....." Anybody know what this is? It turned up in my garden...probably a gift froma bird"

We had to call the propane co...water heater went...turns out a draft from storm went down the vent where the water heater lives in the little outside closet... Blew the pilot out...the guy said was his third call that day..same issue. My DH went out and said he tried to light it...but did not know had to hold it down for 45 sec. Not on instructions..$60 omission!

LOL, you are funny, they might turn up on the ID forum.....

Good to know about the water heater, I never thought about it going out that way. We have an electric one now but the kids both have gas.
