Well... Janice... Thanks... another one here for you..
Yes Susan... I do a capping operation... put a few holes in the bottom.. fill with 2" of styrofoam ..broken into lttle bits for inside in the bottom over the holes...fill with potting soil... water throughly and then plant.. I guess there's a few tricks I use in some of the operations... I'll perhaps post a tutorial on the remaking using the last few as assistants..
AH>>>Lynn... yes.. got the MoHawk .. and this one with what looks like a flower in her hair... was asked which was my favorite... I'm afraid my answer is .. I love them all .. but now I can only have one now... just no space

yes... I'm always on the look out for things.. I didn't take any lower 1/2's although a seated one almost came home with me.. been doing sopme work on her sholder... the attachment there was ripped out.. so it had to be attached to the arm againand she was missing a few fingers.. so I got a 1/2 dozen spare hands... to find out the attachments are different.. I do like hands though ... they can make a small planter... shown here from an earlier find..

like the earlier head comming alive with sweat.. I'd like to mention planting in a form does impart special life to them.. So an early story back in the early 70's...I had a dressmakers form.. wire where the leggs were and the very used form above that... lots of holes had developed where they had pinned fabric to it for decades.. so I planted these openings around her body... and out of the top I had a Dieffenbachia planted... which soon grew quite large... my first wife at the time was pregnant with my first son.. she was she was more then a week past due.. one evening we were up in the bed... which hung over a lawn planted inside... and there was a terible crash... going down I found the planted form on it's side and the entire of the middle had broken open.. spilling the soil out on the floor... within the hour we were off to the hospital.. for a standard delivery.. although the sign of the broken open form might have sugested a Cesarean birth.. there's spirit there in the art..

Lynn.. no I didn't make the video.. it was lovely though... I saw another one with moon flowers that looked like it was time lapse also.. but it was in real time... and the moon flowers opened about as fast... I'd given some moonflowers to my mothers twin sister... and she said she loved them so.. and every afternoon the madeher laugh... seeing them quiver and open completly in a minute or so...
so for a report on the garden and what a tour might be like... see Sandi's article on the welcome page... or go here to view it..

I saw it the article Gordon and what a treat it was. That garden is so magical. I would so love to sit in it and watch the sky turn colors. I keep going back to look at the photos.

If any of you haven't read the article about Gordon's garden, you are in for a real treat. http://garden.org/articles/vie...

I agree Rolling on the floor laughing I'm just finding this - I love your "visitors"! I tip my hat to you. I'm curious, what are they made of and where might one find something similar? I'm envisioning a few of these eerie visitors popping up in the gardens, planted or not! Blinking

Question....is this an "open" invitation, i.e. no expiration? Confused I'd like to add it to my bucket list! Green Grin!

Sure Debbie... I'd be pleased to give you the tour.. perhaps put a talented person such as you to work some HA HA .. personally... I like to tour about visiting gardens.. and am always happy when I can do things when I visit... it's more like visiting family.. when they will let you work..
as far as longevity of the offer .. It's open as long as I'm here... although I've been told it's somewhat limited... with it being offered for sale this spring.. but then it was offered last fall also..
the figures I get lots of places.. some are street finds.. a store will throw out some of them to get a new look for their displays... must have seen a pile of them together one evening.. some i'd received from a store owner in exchange for updating hers to have living hair doos.. Guess it's easier to find them in the city here.. there's so much discarding and moving on .. everyone looking for the "new " image.. and such.. perhaps you could find some abused and broken ones at a place that sells display items near by you there..
OH..I see you're in Lexington.. if I find any more of them around I'll pick them up and drop them off to you on my way through.. I drive down I-81 lots to visit mother in north AL.. I must have made the I-81 treck to visit her a million times in the last 40 years... and since childhood.. when she..my dad .. my sister and I would make the same trip on old US 11.. to visit the family on the MS delta... I'll be making the trip sometime the last part of April... got to get mothers brugs planted and some of her flowers ready to go for the spring then... and perhaps a visit to a flower group gathering I've visited the last few years in FL/AL on the 28th of April... I'll keep a watch for some for you... which reminds me I still have some to finish ... and one to replant as I'd planted it with a bunch of ivy.. that seemed to come with a full contigent of spyder mites.. OH... I'll also be going down the end of July to help her cellebrate her 90th birthday... if the gas stays below $10 / gal... we'll look for some for you...

Holy cow, then you're only 5 miles from me when you drive through - at least wave if you can't stop!!! Rolling on the floor laughing I have the same problem when I head to Maine, it's a 13-14 hr drive so I'm "driven" to get there (pun intended!) Sticking tongue out Living in a small town has its benefits but finding "cool junk" is not one of them. Thumbs down We do however have a lot of small businesses that come and go OFTEN so I'll be keeping my eyes open!
