My brother got it at a place in Chicago and even the people who sold it to him couldn't ID it! The lower stage has plain grassy leaves; the upper stage has rings of leaves, like a flute/trumpet/bell, with the stem through the middle of each.

There should be a milky latex sap from any broken leaf or stem. Don't get it in your eye, you'll end up in urgent care, if you do. It does look like a small wulffeni. They are supposed to deter gophers, but I've never been that lucky.
