All they did was drill a hole in the top, glue a twig in the hole, with the bark on the twig, and then wired some wooden leaves around the "stem" and then painted a face on. Oh, and they took a planer and kind of rounded some of the top of the post all the way around. I love it because you don't have to be perfect about any of it! My niece bought it with the wreaths at the same auction, all for the same price! Gotta love auctions! Hurray!

When we had that horrendous ice storm a couple of years ago I ended up with several log pieces. I used them in borders for a while, then gradually gave or threw others away. Wish I'd thought of doing this with them.

Nice job on the wreaths, and that pumpkin is so cute. You could probably make them out of landscape timbers too???

I'm sure you could use whatever was handy for you! I keep looking at DH's firewood stash now, and wondering if I should start peeling bark. Reckon he'd notice?

Heh! I was thinking the same thing about firewood. Just tell him it all burns with or without paint. You're just decorating the firewood while it lays there just waiting to be burned. Whistling

Nice Sandi, and I love the pumpking thingy, too! Since moving to Colorado, we have found many, many uses for logs, LOL! My favorite raised bed is made from logs standing on end.

Well, we went to the inlaws yesterday, (some of you may remember that my FIL makes log furniture and such) and went thru his scrap pile of ends and such, and I now have a huge box full of soon to be pumpkins and the trunk of my car is full too Hilarious! DH planed all the tops of them, and drilled all the holes for the stems, so now all we have to do is plan a pumpkin painting party! Gotta find a bunch of orange paint somewhere Blinking
