This is a LOCAL group buy, with pick-up at the Mid-Atlantic Fall Swap on September 10. I WILL NOT SHIP BULBS.

We're going with ADR this fall, although we may add some bulbs to this buy from Ednie, Brent & Becky's, ect.

See https://www.adrbulbs.com/index...

You won't be able to see prices. I can see prices when I sign in. I will initially add 10% to your total to cover unsold bulbs (so we can order a box of 100 even if we've only pre-sold 90)... this is usually reduced to a couple of percent at the end to cover repacking materials. I don't make a profit from group buys.

ADR has a free shipping promotion until July 15. They also have their entire online catalog available until then. After that date, their stock is limited to what the farm has committed to shipping stateside.

We've had excellent bulbs at fantastic (wholesale) prices from them in the past. As always, by participating in the group buy you agree to share the risk -- I'm not a retailer, and if I pay for bulbs we don't receive or that are no good, I can't absorb the loss. If I have to pay, so do you. Smiling That said, we've never had an issue with our local group buys.

I'll keep a running list in the next post of varieties that MIGHT be included if there's enough interest. I'll add a variety to the list if a couple of people would like it, or if one person wants to get at least half the box/bag.

Wholesale prices mean we have to purchase in wholesale quantities! We usually have to juggle numbers at the end to come out right, so please let me know if there's a range that would work for you, eg "I would like 15-25 Red Moon Monkeybulbs." or "I'd like 25 Galloping Golden Gladiolus but could take as many as 75 -- I really want these!"

Please post orders IN THIS THREAD, not in a tree-mail or in another discussion thread. Make changes and additions IN A NEW POST, not by editing your post.

Let the games begin!

I started off with three split-corona (aka "butterfly") daffodils that really caught my eye. Shrike and Prom Dance are new ones for ADR this year; Cassata is a favorite that I'd like to plant again (I think Prom Dance looks like a smaller version of it, so am thinking they'd be nice in drifts near one another.)

Note that larger quantities have a price break, but I'm starting by figuring boxes (75 daffs for example) rather than bags (150 0r 200 daffs)

We haven't done iris germanica from them before, should we try one bag? 'Harmony is a very nice blue-violet mini iris reticulata (150 for $21.90)

N. Yellow Cheerfulness, 5/$1.57 (box of 75)
N. Delnashauge, 5/$1.90 (box of 75)

N. Bridal Crown 5/$1.37 (box of 75)

Scilla siberica 150/$21

Allium azurium 150/$23.10 -- blue blue blue! charming late spring /early summer bloomer.

to give you an idea on pricing...
Tulip, double late Romantic mix (pink, white, purple), 50/$17.50, 100/$34
Tulip, darwin 'Impression Mix' (pink shades) or 'Gudoshnik' (variable cream/pink/red streaked), 50/$15.50
Tulip, long-lasting mixtures ('Sweet Pink or 'Blue Ribbon'), 50/$15.50

Such amazing prices on these!! Yes, saw that about drainage...but willing to give it a go (with a LOT of grit). I would take 25 unless there were more takers to = the #150 count.

Note re. pricing... I am giving prices per 5 or per 25 to help people make ordering decisions... but if it says "box of 75 " or "bag of 150," that's how many we have to order as a group in order to get them.

September isn't the best time to plant bearded irises... better to have 6 to 8 weeks of good growing weather for them to root in before cooler weather, or they tend to heave out of the ground during freeze/thaw cycles. If you want cheap bearded irises, look for one of the FSK iris society rhizome sales this month... I need to check the dates on them, myself. :-)

OK.. still trying to confirm a time, probably 8 to 12 or 9 to 12... but the rhizome sale at Dutch Plant Farm is Saturday July 16. there's another sale THIS Saturday (July 9) but I'm not sure where -- it used to be at Watson's in Lutherville MD but they went out of business this spring.

Lisa, Thanks for going in on some Leucojum. Smiling I love the Muscari 'Dark Eyes'-- they just have a little more oomph than the straight species.

I'll look up more prices when I have my arm in the machine tomorrow morning... in general, you can expect wholesale to be 1/3 of retail. The onlyadr price so far that seemed a little high to me when I clicked on it was on saffron crocus, at nearly 30 cents per bulb... but I'm not sure what those are retailing for recently.

Narrowed down Amaryllis picks to these six: Dutch Apple Blossom, D. Charisma, D. Gervase, D. Samba, Peruvian Minerva and P. Vera.
I like Chantell's picks of Ipheion Rolf Fiedler and both her Iris germanica Feed Back and Rosalie Figge. I'll take 25 or so of all three.
Thanks.

The bearded iris rhizomes are about $3 each, sold in boxes of 15. I'd suggest going to the July 16 rhizome sale instead -- you'll get fresher rhizomes, grown locally. Prices may have gone up to $2 per rhizome, up to $5 for newer introductions and japanese irises... we can pick up some extra blue/purple for those who are interested.

Feedback and Rosalee F. are both good, sturdy varieties, so Lisa & Chantell if you want to try one or both, I'll add them to our order... but I'd rather talk you into coming up for the sale, maybe going to lunch afterwards! Smiling

those who are ordering whole boxes -- unless you say otherwise, I'm going to assume you can spare a few (like 5 out of a box of 50 hyacinths, 5-10 daffs out of a box of 75, etc.)

Lisa, your value packs of Pink Charm mix are the same as the long-lasting Sweet Pink tulip mix... just in case you'd like to order fewer. (The crate of 500 Sweet Pink mix prices out the same per bulb as the 400 bulbs in your Pink Charm box... I checked)
