A pot fell over while i was on vacation and a 12" branch broke off my dwarf plumeria "Thumbelina". This is the ragged end. Should I trim it flat? Is a little soft. But the whole branch is looking dehydrated. That is why the pot fell over, not enough water and some winds.

I would trim it at an angle, just so the cut is clean and water will run off of it. It will probably branch regardless, but nothing wrong with a little insurance. Some folks sprinkle cinnamon on cut tips/branches, but I have never done so.

Done. Thanks for the tip@Drdawg. Perfect job for my new sharp pruning shears. I have used cinnamon before. But this time it was a challenge. The labels on my spice bottles are very old. First I grabbed cinnamon-sugar, then chili powder and then cumin before finally picking up the cinnamon bottle. I really need to get those bottle back in Alpha order!

Cheryl, I use top-grade cinnamon in the kitchen but have a bottle of "cheaper" cinnamon in both greenhouses. It is always handy when needed.

I have a small jar of cinnamon in the greenhouse. But it's too dang hot in there. So I worked in the kitchen and a/c today.

I'm with you there, Cheryl. I pop into the greenhouses only briefly. I try to stay out under the oaks or in the AC.
