I am thinking about going out West to see Salem, Oregon in the next year or two during bloom season. Has anyone on this forum been, what are some must see places ?? This has been on my bucket list

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Teresa, I went to Salem this year, it turned outo be a rainy day so I didn't spend as much time on each place as I would have liked to. Mid America, Kepple, Sisters, and Schrieners Iris are all a very short distance from each other. Kepple and Sisters are pretty much across the street from each other. Not to far from Mid America is Adelman Peony Gardens. You don't want to miss going to Adelmans too (absolutely gorgeous). I'm pretty sure it was at Adelmans that I picked up a map of the nurseries in the greater Portland / Vancouver metropolitian area. Here is the website appearing on the map:

We bought red peony 'Jean Ericson at Adelman's last year after having lunch there on the iris tour. Wonderful display garden.

Yes they were. I think it was Mary Ann that has posted pictures of her white Iris and red peonies. Gorgeous!

Most of my peonies bloom towards the end of the iris season. I have one early blooming peony that blooms before the irises.

Politicians are like diapers, they need to be changed often, and for the same reason.

I dream of such a trip, but I fear I'd just sit down in the middle of that field of irises and loose consciousness.

Those are the SDB's that (mostly) Tom sent to me last year. They bloomed this year and I posted pictures of the ones that did. However -- I didn't take a *bed* picture of them in bloom -- I should have.

Last year, I also planted Jesse's Song behind each clump of Tom's Red -- I thought that would be a great combo. The Jesse's Songs didn't bloom this year -- but should make a great picture next year!!

Betsy, have you been to the Zebra Iris Garden in Elwood, UT? My oldest girl lives near Salt Lake City.
We are going out for a visit soon but no iris blooming in July
