I am thinking about going out West to see Salem, Oregon in the next year or two during bloom season. Has anyone on this forum been, what are some must see places ?? This has been on my bucket list Rolling my eyes.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Teresa, I went to Salem this year, it turned outo be a rainy day so I didn't spend as much time on each place as I would have liked to. Mid America, Kepple, Sisters, and Schrieners Iris are all a very short distance from each other. Kepple and Sisters are pretty much across the street from each other. Not to far from Mid America is Adelman Peony Gardens. You don't want to miss going to Adelmans too (absolutely gorgeous). I'm pretty sure it was at Adelmans that I picked up a map of the nurseries in the greater Portland / Vancouver metropolitian area. Here is the website appearing on the map:

My friend Lauren and I want to go back next year. We're planning on spending a few days to take it all in!

We bought red peony 'Jean Ericson at Adelman's last year after having lunch there on the iris tour. Wonderful display garden.

So I am guessing that the TB and peonies are both blooming at the same time? ?

Most of my peonies bloom towards the end of the iris season. I have one early blooming peony that blooms before the irises.

I dream of such a trip, but I fear I'd just sit down in the middle of that field of irises and loose consciousness. Hilarious!

Those are the SDB's that (mostly) Tom sent to me last year. They bloomed this year and I posted pictures of the ones that did. However -- I didn't take a *bed* picture of them in bloom -- I should have.

Last year, I also planted Jesse's Song behind each clump of Tom's Red -- I thought that would be a great combo. The Jesse's Songs didn't bloom this year -- but should make a great picture next year!!

Thank you Lilli -- and I think you should consider that!! Green Grin!

I want to visit Blue J. Iris. It sure seems like they were the kindest and most friendly vendors I have experienced so far.
