Did everybody get some wonderful moisture from the skies? My storm started at 12:30am. I lifted the window a little so I could hear it raining on the tin shed, definitely music! 🎶🎶🎵

We have 2" in the rain gauge from this rain with more coming this afternoon and then more again this week-end. We so needed it and I'm so thankful.

The rain coming today could get dicey as there are tornado watches west of us.

I hope this rain will help with our wild fires as well. Gatlinburg is breaking my heart. So worried about all the animals, 3 people in critical condition from burns, so many homes lost Crying

Vic and Kabby, I'm happy to hear that you all are getting the much needed rain. Hurray! Hurray! We are not as dry as you are, but our trees are heavily stressed from the Hurricane Matthew and we've received very little rain (some areas none) since then (the 1st wk in Oct.). Thumbs down We will not get as much rain as you will, but we too are grateful for what we do get. Even our air quality in the midlands of SC (smog) has been adversely affected by the wildfires in Ga. and N.C. May we all be blessed with more rain, less wildfires, and cleaner air. nodding

We have had just enough to dampen the drive way, just a mist for a while.

Larry, hopefully more will be on the way to you soon. We've only received 1/2" so far, but another storm system is coming through tonight and still another on Saturday. The one on Saturday is supposed to hover around for a while, possibly until Wednesday. But the one coming through tonight will have wind gusts up to 60 mph. Thumbs down

Well, finally we did get a pretty good rain. Lots of lightening with some wind. Still need more of course. We have just been down the used car shopping road for our grandson, now we are in trouble because one of the granddaughters also needs a car. We registered for a free car the local dealer will be giving away, so it would be so nice to win that to avoid any hard feelings.

Yes! I haven't pulled a weed for about 6 weeks. Nothing was sprouting. That may be changing, if it keeps raining normally now. Winter sprouts don't bother me though, I don't get mosquito bites pulling those, or sweaty, just exercise & material to compost.

Now it's cold. I love fuzzy socks & sweaters but the novelty of this will wear off before the cold does. ;)

On the bright side, there's the holiday cacti & other winter-blooming house plants. And the succulents that don't feel like blooming yet get the pretty colors.

Finally, we got a very slight drizzle almost all morning, but it was so slight that I worked out in it most of the morning without really getting wet. Then we went out for lunch and we have been getting a wonderful rain now for about four hours. Looks like it will continue for a while also! I had spread some rye grass about a week ago, and yesterday I checked and could not find a single seed that had sprouted, so I spread some more yesterday, this rain should be perfect for it.

I can't understand purposely trying to get grass to grow, but if it makes you happy, hope it sprouts well!

Grass helps prevent soil erosion , plus it is great for heating up the compost pile, and I actually like the looks of grass in some places. What I don't like is it acts as an attractant for deer!

Larry I've never heard you mention deer before, maybe not too long ago they jumped the back fence? I don't know how you can have blooming daylilies, lilies, and hosta without them going through them like a plow.

The last 2 days it has drizzled and sprinkled but certainly nothing like we had last week. 😟

@Kabby, I have had deer problems ever since we moved here 14 or 15 years ago (lost count). But, I do have a large portion of the back yard fenced in (low 4 foot chain link fence) and the deer have not jumped the fence for many years now. The first few years here it was common to find deer and turkeys in the fenced in area, but that has not been the case in years (I have not planted rye grass in the back yard for a while till this year, my gutters have caused a wash in a few areas and I have been trying to correct that). The largest part of my daylily collection is outside the fence however, but the deer have caused very little problem with the daylilies. The true lilies and other plants are a different story, the deer love to eat them. All my hostas are inside the fence so they are eaten by the slugs and not the deer. My ferns are both inside and outside the fence, no problem with deer with either of them. Also I have had no problem with deer eating my Caladiums so far. I planted some as a test a few years ago and so far the Caladiums have not been bothered by the deer.
The deer seem to bed down for the night near the branch in the back, in my neighbor's back yard. That is actually only a few feet from my main bog bed filled with daylilies, and so far the deer have been a very minor problem. So by planting rye grass again this year I am hoping it does not cause a huge problem with attracting deer and tempting them to cultivate a taste for daylilies.

@Seedfork that's amazing that the deer didn't decimate your daylily buds outside the fence. Just amazing. I don't have deer problems, just tree rats. Used to have armadillo destruction but I barricaded all the holes that the dogs had made under the fence and that took care of that.

Our esteemed governor has lifted the burn ban for AL so we must have gotten a good rainfall all over. Hurray! Hurray!

Did we get that much??

I can see thru the leaves over the pond screens and it is pretty full!
