Ursula, if you want/need to move this thread to join with another. I wasn't sure so I started a new one. Anyway, my orchids have been in the shaded greenhouse for about 2 months now, since 7 May. The highest temp I've seen in there in 95 and the humidity is always at least 55%. Usually 60-75%. My Keiki is still growing on the spike but still no roots yet. I first noticed it on 29 May when I posted here. I also picked up 6 more Phals from Walmart. The lady with the 'name your price' gun was really nice about letting me mark them down to 1/2 price. So now I'm back up to having 20. If you notice the temp and humidity on the top row, right hand photo. I took these around 11:30 this morning. I went over to the other greenhouse in the sun and it was 105, can't remember what the humidity was but it was probably low. I'm sure glad I moved these to the shaded one else they'd be burnt toast by now. The one with the purple bloom is one of the four I got yesterday.

Moderators here do not have the ability to combine threads, unless I move your post to the sandbox, classified or all things gardening.
You are doing a wonderful job growing Phals and sharing all of your experiences is very valuable.
But I so wish we could somehow keep all the Phal threads together, so many people start out growing Phals and will certainly benefit reading your posts. Unfortunately the information here is just scattered all over the forum in a bunch of different threads.

I was about to say carry on, but on second thought maybe I should lock it?
I like to say one more thing about this, and then I will happily walk away: I wonder how people feel if we start for each type of Orchid at least five different threads? Good luck finding anything.....

I wasn't sure where to post this Ursula but I see I've hit a bad nerve with this one. Why can't sub-forums be made under main forums like I see on a lot of other places. So you can have:

Orchids
|_Phalaenopsis
|_Cattleya
|_.......................

And so on until the most usual ones talked about here are listed. The main 'Orchids' forum can be 'General Orchid Talk' then as I said the others can be for specific type. Maybe I need to not post in the orchid forum since I seem to always do something incorrectly. For now I'll just stick with the Cactus and Succulents forum.

Oh Chris, please don't leave us. We really enjoy your posts and your whole process of learning to grow your Phals.

Just maybe post to one of your previous threads instead of starting a whole new thread each time you update us. If its been a while, it's easier to find your old threads by checking your profile - I think there is a place to look up "threads you have started" there.

I'm sure Ursula's concern is mainly that others won't find your posts easily if they are in many different threads.

I also think there are too many types of orchids to have subs for each even the most common ones we all have must number in the dozens.

Chris, Elaine really, really wants you to stay the course.

I'm staying, I learn too much here in the orchids forum to leave. I'll just have to remember to search for one of my old threads whenever I have a question or something.
