I purchased 2 plants, wish I could remember the name....never noticed the violet streaks until this year (3 year in the garden)

I suspect that your plant may be South Seas. I was looking through my photos from the spring, and realized that my photo looks a lot like yours. Taken in May at 5:45 pm...It is usually more of a coral color.

Well now I am going to start looking harder at my 'South Seas', I certainly did not recognize that look. But now I can see it could be.

I think it's the lighting (and camera). This is one reason it's so difficult to identify an unknown, along with the variability of flower size, scape height, and weather's affect on a bloom form. I have some cultivars that I wouldn't recognize at times if they weren't tagged...

Thanks for the suggestion of South Seas, it does look like it. The photo was taken in the afternoon around 5pm with an iPhone. I went back outside to look at it to make sure I was really seeing the violet stripes...they were still there.

I took mine with my iPad...

Check out the other pics of it in the database here and see if it appears to have the more coral color earlier in the day. Mine is currently reblooming...well, I guess I should say it's been blooming since May and continues to send up scapes. It is a great plant in the garden to add continuous color.

Going broke is one problem, finding room to plant even more and more is the other challenge! I may eventually have to grow them in a vertical garden!
