No kidding!! And where did you find the molds for all of those pieces? And aren't the large ones awfully heavy to handle? And how does one stain concrete? Questions -- questions!!!!

Also -- how do you know how much concrete to mix up for a given form?

Yes... they are heavy but I raised some strong teen age sons who help me lift them. 😊😊

I make a record each time I fill a mold for the first time of how much concrete it takes to fill it so I get it just right on all the refills. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

I got the molds from eBay.🌺🌺

I stain them with Acid. 😊😊

yadah_tyger said:That's exactly what they are supposed to look like, the "Oh no, I killed them". In about 2 or three weeks, right smack in the middle of the dead looking fans you will see a tiny green 'pointie' starting to grow. Before you know it, small fans will appear.
Every year when I give out Iris to people who never grew them before, I tell them about 2 weeks after they plant them, they will look dead. It's funny because every year they say the same thing, "I thought I killed them, but then they started to grow".
No worries mate, they are fine.

Blessings

@yadah_tyger John, I kept thinking about your comment above all summer when I would go out to look at the rhizomes and, sure enough, you were right. That particular bed is thriving and has nice, tall leaves on almost all of the rhizomes. (There are a few shorties in the bunch, but I'm pretty sure they are supposed to be shorter.) All look very healthy, just like you said they would, despite the dead-looking browning after I planted them. I should get a picture soon to show how far along they have come.
