I live in San Antonio Texas, my grandmother had these plants that would grow pods that had black seeds inside. When you watered it the pods would pop and seeds would scatter. If you touched it also would pop. I don't know the name of the plant nor have I seen any since my youth.
There are a number of plants that use "exploding" seed dispersal. This link show a variety of seed pods, perhaps one will look familiar to you. I hope this is of help to you.

Orange Jewelweed (an impatiens) does that here. It's a wildflower. Usually found near water sources in forests or stands of trees.
