I love gardening
I live in San Antonio Texas, my grandmother had these plants that would grow pods that had black seeds inside. When you watered it the pods would pop and seeds would scatter. If you touched it also would pop. I don't know the name of the plant nor have I seen any since my youth.

Hi @SM Welcome to NGA.

There are a number of plants that use "exploding" seed dispersal. This link show a variety of seed pods, perhaps one will look familiar to you. I hope this is of help to you.

Explosive dehiscence is fairly common. It could have been Ruellia, Oxalis, Impatiens, or something else...

Orange Jewelweed (an impatiens) does that here. It's a wildflower. Usually found near water sources in forests or stands of trees.
Sometimes called 'Touch Me Nots'.
Nothing that's been done can ever be changed.

Impatiens balsamina , Balsam plants do also. That was my first experience with that form of dispersal. The flower's nickname is Touch Me Not.
