I have often wondered about when there is a virused lily bulb that has been removed from the garden and destroyed, can you safely plant another lily cultivar, or are precautions needed?

If there are no signs of rot in the bulb area it is safe, viruses are spread by aphids and thrips, they fly and feed on juicy buds and flowers. Thrips can overwinter in the soil but take off in the spring to seek out and destroy your most precious plants......
