Thread OP

My broccoli plants grew well but failed to put up a central stalk where the broccoli head will form. Instead the central stem was rotten with small leaves folded in and the
plant did not grow any taller. the outer leaves also where slightly curled and mutant looking. the other Kohl family plants had a similar issue. all plants are home-grown and were transplanted into our main garden and two separate smaller back yard gardens and all plants developed the problem except one Broccoli. the entire Kohl crop was a wash-out. I've searched on-line for answers but have found nothing that fits this situation exactly. Got any ideas for me

I am only guessing without a photo but could your soil be deficient in lime? Broccoli and other Cole crops can develop club root (due to a soil born fungus) and fail to thrive. I was always taught to add extra lime to the soil to keep the Broccoli healthy.

Rotten inside the stem is what made me think of boron deficiency. There are some pics here:
