You gotta be tough to hang out here. I forget stuff - loose it, find it, forget it again then put it somewhere, you get the routine. I kinda suck but I blame it on being new.

I'm a great one for leaving new plants out in the open when I got to work. Twice now this year I've come home and found the pots blown over and the plants blown right out of the pots, laying in the sun.

The name of that little elm tree is Ulmus minor 'Jacqueline Hillier'. That one is a tough little bugger!

It is a beauty. Love it!!!

I bought 3 more miniature shrubs/trees today for my containers. I'll post pictures later. I did look for more Jacqueline Hilliers but looks like they're not carrying them this year.

Tell us what you got, Chris. I'm curious. I found a mimosa tree on a walk the other day, can get more if someone wants one. I put it in a small pot.

Charleen I have a mimosa in my front yard. It only took me 6 years to get it to look like a tree. It was in a gallon pot when I bought it. Every spring when it would start coming out of dormancy the deer would eat it back to the tiny little trunk. They must be very tough little trees. It is now about 10/12 feet tall and the deer don't eat it anymore.

They are. That Mimosa truck is as big as the tree. they are nice trees with Beautiful blooms, the honeybees love them. Why are you starving your deer
We havea persimmon tree and in the fall it has persimmons they love them too, so I'm staving them too. They love Hosta too.

They haven't found my hosta yet. Not to worry, pretty soon I will be feeding them again when I put my tomatoes out.

Will they eat your tomatoes???DH put a fence around our garden so far No problems.

The tiny baby plants they will eat to the ground, the bigger plants they just nip out the young tender new growth.

They have been doing it for billions of years , so they know what they like.....

I am just soooo lucky I don't have deer problems. See them around here all the time but for the most part they leave my gardens alone.
