I just wanted to say how amazingly nice Mr. Morss and Mr. Kirchoff are. We (myself, my husband, and a friend) made a trip to their garden today and they took the time to show us around (we were lucky to be there by ourselves). They made suggestions on which plants they thought I might like; they gave me tips for daylily planting, care, and hybridizing; and I think they won my husband over a little (at least made him think I'm a little less crazy for being so obsessed with daylilies). I truly cannot say enough great things about our visit. Even though it was past peak season, their garden was lovely and their location is remote and beautiful. If you ever get the chance to visit...you should!

Also...I added Hazel Tinsley, Hill Street Blues, Vino Di Travis, Bridey Greeson, and Martina Verhaert to my collection. And Mr. Kirchoff said he was going to throw in his Joan Jackson so I could "get a TRUE daylily" (jokingly referring to the double form which he seems to prefer). I can't wait for these new additions to arrive in the mail too!

I couldn't resist looking at their 2016 intros. I quite liked MIKE SHADRACK.

Amber - I am jealous! Green Grin! I think that is so neat that you got to actually talk with them and had such a nice tour. No daylily clubs or growers near me. I am glad that your husband was with you, too. Maybe he will better understand what it means to be fascinated with this beautiful plant!

Gardeners are a different breed of people. People who don't garden think that those who do are crazy to be outside gardening in the heat of summer, in the cold of winter, and all the weather in between. Big Grin

Sounds like it was a very nice day! I was just telling someone today that I want to visit their place some day.

They are located outside of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. They have some "regular" hours through the end of May to Early July listed on their website. Outside of those hours, you just call and ask if you can come. That's what I had to do. Mr. Kirchoff said sure I could come but that it was past peak bloom season so he hoped I wasn't disappointed. If what I saw was past peak...I think I want to make another trip next year during peak! I didn't take any whole garden shots or I would show them!

Sometimes seeing the garden at past peak gives one a chance to see those late bloomers. That is what I am looking for! Smiling
