Hi everybody,

One of my cacti is falling over. I have no clue what is causing it. Can somebody help me out? Could it have something to do with the white patches on the side of the cactus? I don't water it often so that can't be it.

The plant needs more light. Hours of daily sun if it is indoors, ideally.

Thanks for your replies! The cactus is standing in the window. Unfortunately there is not a spot in our flat that has more hours of sun. Maybe I can try turning the cactus.

I do feel sorry for your plant. If you do not have the right conditions, you should not have it. Give it to someone who can take good care of it. Gene

While it does need more light, I think this is a type of Opuntia that is prone to getting floppy when taller and branching. I have an Opuntia that is very similar, not quite the same species that I grow in pretty much full sun... it is floppy as hell... the patches probably are just signs of aging.

Maybe buy a plant light to help supplement those extra hours. (:

It looks like Consolea rubescens Road Kill Cactus.
