TREE SHAPING- unique tree stems. Amazing
these are done by the same folks that did one of the ones I'd posted before a picture of their people trees then

Peter and Becky of Australia have mastered the art of Tree Shaping.
Pooktre, as they have called it, has perfected a Gradual shaping method, which is the shaping of trees as they grow along predetermined designs.
Designing and setting up the supporting framework are fundamental to
the success of a tree. Some are intended for harvest to be high quality. Indoor furniture and others will remain living art.

Beautiful, Gordon, overwhelming even!
Do you know if they are mostly ficus trees?
That's what the foliage looks like to me.

As I was walking through the yard today, I stopped at a pair of trees that are virtually one tree, no wait two trees. Oh, heck, it is two trees that have linked themselves together to make one at the roots. I thought how cool is that, I have plant art in my front yard. That's when I started noticing more of them. I have at the very least a half dozen that have grown together at the roots making a small bench about 10 inches above the ground. Now I'm not sure if this is the same kind of art but I sure like it and will make it look like a village or something with some gnome doors.

Sounds real cute Robin...please post some pictures of these as they develop for you.....Sharon..I read through their web site.. and other articles.. and nowhere is there any mention of the trees..aside from the ways they dry them to prevent cracking... the have a book it seems awaiting the final chapter.... guess we'll have to await the self publishing of it..
some of them seem like cherry trees... the flowers on some.. and the dark bark with the horizontal lineing on it..

they claimed to never having seen any done before them... but Alex Erlandson as we know was in it from the 40's and was quite well published with pictures... all through that time.. they do intricately work it though.. as in the necklace above

Maybe so, Gordon, I was just looking at the leaves. Could very well be cherry trees.

Sharon... got no real idea as to what they are ... I've never been to Australia .. I do know they have things there we don't have.. and I'm not sure what they have that we do have.. they now have dictation software up and running... so maybe the last chapter of the book will be ready to finish it off soon...

OH...I found something I didn't go into the other day.. an excerpt from an interview..
The tree species that we have used the most is wild plum (Prunus
myrobalan). We have been trailing Black Cheery (Prunus Serotina) and we
are happy with the process so far. The type of tree is not the reason
for the even and balanced growth however – it’s the method of
shaping the trees that results in even or uneven growth.

It must take a lot of years to train them into those intricate shapes. Gosh, I sure do enjoy seeing them! I would love to do it, but I would have to settle down in one location for a couple of decades first - not going to happen before we are in our 70's or so.

Here's what is in my yard. These trees are merging at the roots and 2 of them have grown together up to about 3 - 4 feet.

That is really cool Robin Thumbs up

We have several trees here that have 3 or 4 trunks but they don't go together like yours.

We have one that Hank calls the 4 sisters Big Grin
