I saw Bushy Blue Bell Clematis (Clematis integrifolia 'Caerulea') at a local store. Anyone know if it grows well in zone 8? I was surprised to see it said zone 4-7. If it does grow here, it looks wonderful....there were over 10 shoots in each pot.

Every site I've found it on says it's for zones 3-7, but someone on GardenWeb in zone 8 was telling other posters how to prune it, so maybe it'll grow well in your zone.

It certainly is pretty. Here are some Google images:

Thanks for all the search. Maybe if it is grown in shade, it will enjoy Texas weather.

Think in terms of microclimates - I have to believe your house is airconditioned? I would think the a/c would keep your house cooler in the summer - just as in my location, the heat from my house in the winter tends to keep things warmer. I would think this would work in reverse - also try the northern side of your house as that should be cooler than the southern side....

Let us know how it goes - I am wondering as well...

Tom, my guess would be Rooguchi. Anyone else have any other ideas? I am new to clems.
What do you think?

Thanks so much, I have 6 different clematis, and I don't know the names of them. I do love them though.

Hope you don't mind Tom, I popped that first photo with all the blooms into the database for you. It was the best photo of a plant in bloom I had have ever seen so is a real asset to the database. You can see that it is credited to you on your profile page. Thumbs up

The one at top left looks like Niobe and the one at top right and bottom left looks like Crystal Fountain, but I'd wait for confirmation from someone else before accepting those ID's as definitive.

Wow, love that last shot, what a beautiful riot of cool colors!

OK, my guess for #3 is Crystal Fountain, as you can see, it's quite popular.

I had my post open too long to go grab the link so I'd say Crystal Fountain it is since we both came up with that! Thumbs up

Numbers 2 and 3 are the same plant, and numbers 1 and 4 are also the same plant. Is that right, Tom?

Yes, it's two pics of each, one closer up, the other farther away. I think Cristal Fountain is the name I remember now when I ordered that one. The burgandy one, I got at a garden center about 8 years ago, so I don't remember what the name was. OK, now back to the original topic of this forum that I so rudly interupted, I looked at the pictures of the Bushy Blue Bell Clematis, and they are really neat. Do you know a good source where one can buy them? Thanks for all the help.

I'm all ears! I'm interested too. I looked around and didn't find any available to order online.

I bought mine at Calloways. If I remember correctly, it isn't a "real" cultivar (or whatever the term is) At least that is what a clem expert told me. I love your Rooguchi.,Tom. I am not sure if you know but an integrifolia is a non climbing vine. I hope my Rooguchi. looks as good as yours in a few years. If my Bluebell lives long enough to have seedheads, I can send them to y'all.

I agree with the ID's on these two - Niobe and Crystal Fountain.
