Thread OP

I have a garden that I planning to landscape but some plants are from the previous owner. I don't know if this is a weed or a flowering plant worth keeping. The stem is at least 1/2" in diameter and it looks like it is flowering some type of white flower. It is pretty tall now at least 2-3' high. Should I get rid of it? I live in zone 7. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Could it be pokeweed, Phytolacca americana?

Hi Sooby, thanks for responding! I appreciate it. Yes from the name that you provided, I believe it is pokeweed and from the sound of it, probably best to dig out the roots and toss it, right?

Some people grow it on purpose, to others it's a weed. It is toxic, so it's really a personal decision.
