I have this ugly "snowball" bush that I do not care for. It is way too big, I trim it back and even dug some chunks of it out around it and it just grew back with a vengeance. Regardless of how I feel about it, it's size needs to be reduced and kept away from the wall of the house. Any tips on how to control it?

You've already got the right idea. I think you'll have to dig out more rootball to get it off the house for longer. It looks like one that grows from the roots every spring, so you can't really reduce it by pruning.
Plant it and they will come.
