I bought the Pizzazz bulb through our (Minnesota) North Star Lily Society in the fall of 2014. Year 2015 brought one bloom.

So this year, it's blooming nicely on a very sturdy stalk and I suppose it is great that it already has 40% secondary flowers, but the inflorescence structure is awful!
Is this normal for Pizzazz?

Rick my pizzazz is a juvenile too so I can't compare inflorescence but it looks to be the right bulb. Now I'm curious why you think that the structure is so bad. It looks like it can still mature.

Yeah, that's what I am hoping for... that it will mature. But the only time I've ever seen secondary buds without a central stem on an Asian lily is when the lily grows flowers in an umbel. It's a trait breeders consider inferior, and I agree.

The photo in the Lily Garden catalog shows a racemose inflorescence of 12+ buds and blooms, with secondaries.

Well, look at this--what just jumped up out of nowhere. Looks like Pizzazz with a green reverse. Don't even ask how it got here. Then again, maybe it's a volunteer seedling that looks like Pizzazz. Shrug!

Well don't think it looks like Pizzazz. Pizzazz has a significant orange star around the nectaries and darker red raised papillae.

Connie, yes, I see now. Well then, In could be an open pollenated volunteer hybrid from Silk Road. I'm holding about a dozen extra Silk Road in that corner. It came up near the base of one of them. Directly across and in the next row would be some of Johan Mak's OT X henryi crosses like Orange Henry and Peach Cobbler and they're fertile both ways also. So--stuff happens, I guess.

There is a sister seedling of Pizzazz that I like better called 'Sizzle' and it has the green reverse. I'll try to photograph it later today.

That little thing didn't come here as a tramp scale or hitchhiking bulblet. Those extra Silk Road planted there were from a 14 year old clump of Silk Road that I dug in Oct. 2013.

I find it much more striking in the garden than Pizzazz, but that's just me. Whistling

Thanks for the comparison, mags. I like the looks of Sizzle better too, though I don't grow it.

And apparently there is a 'Sister of Pizzazz'. What's the difference there, gals? I see you both entered pics into the data base.

I think Sister of Pizzazz may have been have first been offered to the Regional Lily Societies, then later actually named Sizzle and named officially and sold through the regular Lily Garden catalog. I'll see if I can get to the bottom of this.

If Sizzle is the same as Sister of Pizzazz then I have it after all! The two are quite similar in pictures but I can't compare them side by side (since I didn't purchase Sizzle).
