Hurray! I just got a box from the grower where I purchased some of my DLs (the one who did right, not the one that messed very bad with my order).
We keep in touch on facebook, he gives me advices that Sue @sooby always says are stupids Hilarious! (don't worry Sue, I'm following yours not his!), I sent him one of my candle to thank him for being present and standing after his business, it's a sort of new borning friendship. Today I received his gift! he knows I love daylilies but I'm tight on money (and space to), he's been so nice! He sent Pardon Me, Mildred Mitchell and Passion and Style. Fans are small but they look like are a couple of fans each. I freaked out because I'm procrastinating everything to wait for end of blooming season and to dig some plants I no longer want, so now I have to decide where to put these. Probably in pots, until september (note to self: you don't have free pots D'Oh! ).
Here are the babies!

Thumb of 2016-07-21/cybersix/ee919d

They are having a bath now, shipping took two days. And I need some time to make up a spot for them!
I can't find many pictures of Passion and Style, it seems not appreciated. Do any of you own it and can tell me something about it?
Thank You!

Wow! Congrats! What a nice gift! And look at those amazing roots. Looks like you got some very healthy plants with several fans per cultivar. Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

I have to say that he may advice something really different than what I read on here, but his plants are super healthy and super big. All of his flowered the first year. Now he's hybrydizing and his future intros will be sold in USA too.

Congrats on the new babies. Gotta live bonuses. I purchased Pardon Me last year from Home Depot or Lowe's (one of my first five cultivars ever)... In fact, my first pollination was Little Grapette and Pardon Me.

Pardon Me is just about ready to start blooming in the next few days here, so I'm excited! I hope you enjoy yours.

Pardon Me had a scape and he cut it to send the plant to me. I saw it in pictures and loved the blooms!
Is it a nocturnal?

Sabrina, now that I think about it, it was. Let me double check the database though, because my first reaction was that it was not nocturnal, but I remember going back to purchase more, and there were blooms opening late in the evening. That was, I think, my first experience with nocturnal daylilies.

Edited to add:
Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Pardon Me')

Looks like it definitely is nocturnal.

Thanks DND. I saw it in the database, but the grower told me it's not!
Can a daylily change its habits in flowering?

I wouldn't know for sure, but my best guess is that it depends on the growing conditions. I really think this one is pretty reliably nocturnal the more I think back...maybe the grower just hasn't noticed it? Or maybe they're growing something they think is Pardon Me but isn't? Or maybe if they are being grown in a shadier area, it's throwing off the daylily's schedule?... I wouldn't consider myself expert on this matter, I can only tell you that it seems pretty nocturnal to me. Since it's about to start blooming in my garden in the next week from the looks of it, I can keep a special eye out on it to see what it does this year and let you know.

Thank you DND.
I don't think the grower didn't noticed it. He's an hybridizer too, and the biggest nursery here in italy. He also is by the sea in a very sunny land.
Thanks for letting me know when it will bloom! The fan he sent had a scape (cut) maybe will bloom here too before the end of the season!

It's registered as nocturnal. Maybe he thinks nocturnal is open only at night? Maybe check what he thinks nocturnal means.

Sue I'd feel a bit embarassed to ask him if he's sure if he knows what nocturnal means *Blush*

Don't ask him as if you suspect he doesn't know, just ask him as if you don't know and need to have it explained and then you'll know. Whether you can reasonably do that without offending him would depend how your previous conversation went. If it's not possible to ask without causing offence then don't. Regardless, it is registered nocturnal. Just watch yours when it flowers and see when the blooms open. I don't still have mine, unfortunately.

Good idea. I will ask him to explain how nocturnal DLs really behave. You're a genius!
