Hey everyone! Just took the plastic lid off of my sundew and spotted these guys all over it and a sort of web. What are they and what do I do?!?!? Thank you!

I'm not familiar with the common carnivorous pests. Maybe spider mites since you said there is a web type substance. @Daisyl might have an idea. She has more experience than me.

I'm not sure what they are either. Are they walking around? Or glued down? If walking around, I would suggest wiping them off and watching for more. If glued down, let the sundew do what they do.

Looks like aphids to me, did you buy plant like that? Or did you repot it?

I repot it! My sundew isn't doing that great in general though. It has completely stopped making dew... :/ I keep it always wet, and it has wet feet. It is in my southern window and has a plastic container over it for humidity. I'm not sure what else to do!

Sundews don't produce dew when they are unhappy. If your sundew is green is green (no red tips on pads) its not getting enough light. When they turn green, they don't produce dew.

What can I do? It's already right at my southern window. Buy a plant light? And what do I do about the aphids?

Spray the aphids with some soapy water and wash them off. Make sure you wash them down the drain, not into the soil.

Maybe take the humidity dome off - it may be blocking the sunlight. As you have it sitting in water, the humidity can't be much higher with the dome on.

Update: Today I washed off the little specks/bugs/creatures/whatever those are...and then I pulled apart the leaves that had webs between them and this green worm came out, which makes sense considering I was seeing bites off of the leaves! Hopefully now after removing the bugs and taking off the humidity dome, my sundew will get better. (:

I think that humidity dome was making your plant into a resort of bugs.

Hmmm... Doesn't look good but give it a chance. Keep it sitting in a saucer of water in its south facing window. As long as there are green leaves, it stands a chance of recovery.

I believe that one of the causes of your Sundew's death is because of the plastic structure you put over it.
Sundew plants need humidity, yes, but not too much. The average humidity of the household should be enough. Too much, and you'll be harming your Sundew plant.

You should remove the plastic structure. It is acting like a terrarium, and terrariums are bad for most carnivorous plants.

Please make sure that your Sundew plant is in an environment of around 55-85 degrees Fahrenheit. It is the ideal temperature for producing dew.
Make sure as well that the Sundew plant is receiving plenty of sunlight. They enjoy bright, slightly filtered sunlight for around 4-6 hours a day. If you don't get much sunlight near your area, it's best to buy a light to compensate. Fluorescent light bulbs and the ones used for plants are best.

Necessities for Sundew plants:
1. It kind of looks like you put your Sundew Plant in just regular soil. Don't use MiracleGro or whatever. They'll kill your plants. Carnivorous plants prefer the long fiber sphagnum moss. A seller I recommend to buy the pot and mix from is Joel's Carnivorous Plants. They have great customer service and usually give more than what you paid for. He specializes in Carnivorous Plants.
2. Don't use fertilizer on your plant. Carnivorous plants have roots that aren't meant to really suck in anything, such as minerals. They are just meant to anchor the plant in place. This is why you also don't use normal tap water.
3. Use distilled water. This water is very pure, with no minerals in it to kill the plants. This is ideal for your plant, and the bottom of the roots (I believe the yellowish parts) should always be at the top of the water level. They need to be submerged not above, and not below that level, because then it will either not get water, or the roots will rot.
4. Don't swarm it with bugs. It is a plant, after all, and can perform photosynthesis. Too much and you'll be killing the Sundew plant.

I suspect that much, or all, if the damage you showed in #14 was due to not acclimating the plant to lower humidity when you removed the dome so abruptly. Such treatment can be lethal, although D. capensis is pretty robust and will often come back from what looks like a dead plant.

My little carnivorous plant has died unfortunately :/ thank you though. A little wormy was doing big damage and I didn't realize he was there.
