My newly planted trumpet vine was looking sort of "un-perky", but the soil it is in is less than stellar (which might be a good thing???? Curb its wandering ways and it will climb on the 30 foot pole I have for it????). Soooo..........imagine my surprise when I went to water it last week and found a bud cluster!

The wisteria is doing great and sending out tendrils left and right. Every few days I go and see if any are long enough for me to start winding them on the wires of the cattle panel I have for it to climb on. Hopefully I'll get my pergola yet this summer and it will have more area for it to spread.

Both of these are planted in an area where I will be mowing around them and can contain wandering thoughts they have. Rolling on the floor laughing

My wisteria has grown vigorously for two years completely covering a large arbour (9 ft tall), all this after severe cutting back three years ago, but as yet no sign of any flowers. Am I missing something or treating the plant in wrong way?

I am also new to wisteria so cannot answer your question. I need to get out my plant encyclopedia. maybe someone that reads this would have the answer.

I don't know why your Wisteria might not be blooming; I have only dealt with well established vines. I do know, however, that whatever you build for it to climb on needs to be really stout. Wisteria "shrinks as it grows" and will easily pull down lesser structures.

Does it "need" to be pruned?
