This massive plant -- about 5 ft tall, 3 ft wide -- has been thriving in one of my perennial beds. All season long, I have not been able for the life of me to figure out what it is. Which isn't surprising, given my memory these days. I've just left it there all season, and have been observing it and waiting to see if anything happens. But now I'm wondering if I'm growing a huge weed. Does anyone recognize this? You will not hurt my feelings if you say, "What kind of gardener are you? You're growing a weed!"

Reminds me of Goldenrod. It's a native plant that can be weedy.

Here's a link to the general entry in the plant database. Goldenrods (Solidago)

I agree with Goldenrod.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Its looks like Goldenrod to me also.
