Also -- don't forget -- in the TB genus, there are early bloomers, mid-season bloomers, and late bloomers. It is very possible that even if the early or mid-season Irises don't bloom, the late bloomers still will. And it happens to me frequently that I think a given Iris is not going to bloom and a day or two later, a bloom-stalk is shooting up. They can develop them very fast.
Thoughts become things -- choose the good ones. (www.tut.com)

I agree Same thing happens here and I'm always surprised at how fast those things can grow.

Just found your post, @Australis! Today I found my first TB bud!
My MTB Eleanor Roosevelt has been blooming for weeks now and the dwarfs are finished. No signs of more than one bud so far, and believe me, I have looked!!

Hi Bonnie, I think you're mistaken about me having a photo of Beau Zam. It's not one that I've grown. Sorry.

@Orchid40 Val,
I can't believe your dwarfs are finished when my cat's eye (my only dwarf) hasn't started. I only have a bud on one of my IBs so far. Did you get the Tempo Two sale offer in the mail? Are you purchasing any? I decided to wait for the next catalog to save on postage.

@Australis Joshua - I think you should see some progress on your irises and the leaves should be growing taller.

@Totally_Amazing Robin - I have noticed new growth (leaves) on my irises, which is good. It was one of my indicators a week or so ago that spring is just around the corner!

Well, in exciting news, this has appeared in the last day or so (it certainly wasn't there a few days ago when I last looked):

Thumb of 2016-10-03/Australis/7084e8

This is the first one so far, so hopefully some of the others will follow suit!

LOL, Val, wouldn't be the first time. I thought you posted it several years ago on CUBITS but it must have been another member. Anyway, the photo made me fall in love with that blue iris. I hope it blooms next spring. Smiling

So yesterday I got a bit of a surprise when the flower bud started to open. It was fully open by this morning - the result is definitely not a tall bearded iris as I expected, but instead is this tiny white bloom! Seems my aunt has more than just the tall bearded irises I remember growing in the old garden.

Does anyone know what this one might be?

I have no idea either and I think a white iris is going to be hard to identify. I'm looking forward to seeing what the others are.

Thanks. I can only wait and see if any of the others produce a bloom stalk.

Would I be correct in thinking that this little white one is a Standard Dwarf Bearded (SDB) iris? From rhizome to the top of the bloom (if it were standing up straight) is just under 30cm.

So at 30 cm (12 inches) that probably is an SDB, which is what I think it looks like.

Hey Joshua, have any more of your irises bloomed?
