Background history:

'Dixie Land Band' is an evergreen diploid introduced in 1969 by Fleishel. No additional information is known about this hybridizer other than the fact that there are 28 cultivars listed for this hybridizer.

Dixie Land Band is an early bloomer with possible re-bloom, It has earned the Honorable Mention: 2010 AHS award 41 years after introduction! It shows rust resistance. It is listed as pod and pollen fertile, but oddly does not have any registered children at this time.

This plant can be found in the NGA Plant Database at:
Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Dixie Land Band') .

Please join in, if you own this plant! We would love to know more! I award an acorn for performance information posted to this thread.

Also, please consider adding a "Local Report" to the NGA Plant Database! Thank you!

After seeing Dixie Land Band blooming at the National Convention in Asheville, N.C. I bought it on the Daylily Auction. Last year it bloomed like crazy and I have seedlings this year with the crosses to Timber Creek Ace, Don Lovell's and Bob Faulkner's Sunburnned Zebra. So far it has not bloomed this year but has lots of new growth on it.

If I had to pick only one red to keep...um, wait...hang on a sec...okay...had to start breathing again... Hilarious! ...it would probably be this one.

One more plant that I got this year, the fans were small, but they are growing, but still way to early for a meaningful report.

I wouldn't mind having this one, does it have a good bud count for you? I see someone mentioned in comments that it rebloomed.

Frilly, doesn't have a huge bud count. Never noticed rebloom here, but that doesn't mean much when talking about my powers of observation...or lack thereof. Whistling Hilarious!
