JB, if they look really healthy, they probably are, and I wouldn't worry further about them. There are some that rebloom in our zone, and that appears to be what you are getting. I bet they will bloom again in the spring.

Immortality, a white one is known for rebloom in Z6 (and elsewhere).

It's so hard to identify an iris from a picture, that we don't even try to do it. I have some un named ones too, and I love them just as much as the named ones.

That yellow is gorgeous! What a great surprise this time of year!

You can cut your siberians back now, even though they are still green. I cut mine back in the spring, but at this point it's more a matter of what is convenient for you.

If you have any questions, just ask away. Someone will help. But it looks to me like you're doing things right.

Please stay with us on this forum. I'd love to see more pics in the spring.

Just finished cutting the siberian leaves. Lovely to be able to do so in warm meather. I dislike the process especially when it is cold. Iris seeds are planted in their boxes. Most under 10 seeds per pod & they are in pots.

I can not find any pods.............or am I really stupid. We had the hurricane and so much wind really gave many of the plants a whippin and they lost their pods. The tree peonies did for an example. I wonder if they is why my Iris have no pods too. They are in the same field. I can not start seeds anyhow. I always overwater them.

I will look around my flower files and see if I can find the one in particular that I think is so special. Thank you for the warm welcome. I appreciate it very much. I am 83 and most of my friends have cashed it in already. The ones who did not are in nursing homes. I guess I am just too mean and nasty to get too old to work. I do think the fact I have always worked hard outside and with animals that I kept in pretty good shape and my bones etc. are stronger than most of my lady friends. They love to knit, etc. but I preferred the horses and animals and plants. I think it has a lot to do with the way you are raised. I am rambling. Sorry. Have a good evening. I am going to bed and watch TV. I get up early too.

Congratulations on vigor. You have me beat with my arthritis. However I enjoy plants (we no longer have animals ) very much. Have not knit since 3rd grade when we did knit wash cloths for red cross boxes. I read a lot. too each his own.

Lucy, I have osteo arthritis in my hands and back and I go to the chiropractor weekly for him to keep me balanced. My inner ear give me problems too. Has for many years. Fortunately I do not fall, I just walk like I drank too much. I would love to be able to read more but my right eye went blind when i was in my late 50s and since then, I have cut back on reading since I do so much computer stuff, I strain the good eye enough. I learned to crochet a few years ago and when I feel like nothing else will help, I sit and try and do that. I also love needlefelting, but that is very hard on the arms, so that goes by the wayside too. Those are winter hobbies.

I found the Iris I was talking about. I think it is the prettiest one I have and I have no idea what the name is but I adore it. Here it is.

The rust and orange colors really stand out on a sunny day.

This is one of the whites with the purple edges. These shots are with my cell phone as I walk in the mornings and I just snap quick shots, so forgive the quality . I hope you can at least see the colors a bit.

Must get busy, love to do this all day but I have tropical birds that need to be fed and cleaned. Have a good day. Lovey dubby

JB welcome big time. You found all kinds of knowledge, fun, color, pictures here.

My winter projects are to finish a king size hand appliqued iris bedspread, have the top and the end done and now working on one side, hope to get it done and start the two corners, I will tell you that this is the LAST hand applique quilt I will do, but have to machine make 4 quilts after this is done. Then if this gets to me in the evening, I do embroidery work. I only have one more napkin to go out of the set of 4 and did 2 one night and one last last with a small Christmas design on them.

Then the month of Dec and part of Jan are dedicated to getting the webpage ready for the new year. I work at least now one day a week on getting that started.

I still have to go out to the beardless field and finish weedwhacking them down and then pick up. Then back the bearded field and finish the removing the dead leaves, will I get it done this year, doubtful as the rainy season has started.

Again welcome, and we have members of all ages I believe I know for sure the 30,40,50,60, 70 and 80's not sure if we have any members in the 20's, what I would love is to see some teenagers posting with their love of the flowers

I'm no good at sewing so should spend the winter learning more about this compter. Programs were changed after fixing the last one which kept going out of whack. Little thing like moving 'favorites' from left side to right side throw me.
Out to weed. Planted seeds yestrday & rain coming tomorrow.

Rain tomorrow afternoon. since the mower got its new belt the backyard is cut & smooth. John did the grass between the iris beds first. Very annoying that bed which had been weeded had to be redone before moving to the new weeds. Only tomorrow morning to work as rain is scheduled for the afternoon.

wed. weed, weed. My shoulder feels like it needs another shot. First one was aug. 6. that isn't every month is it? At least the seeds, while fewer in # than last yr. are planted.

Paul Black is giving talk for our iris program on Nov. 5. He is always fun.

I got some irises from Dee this year, not the co-op, but those are doing good too, but OMG, they are shooting up all over the place. They will probably have to be divided next year.

I honestly have never had better irises from anywhere. Almost as good, or close to as good, from Keppel, Mid America, and Superstition, but never any better.

Thank you so much Dee! I'm so proud to count you as a friend, your business practices are wonderful!

Polly thank you so much. I do not know what I do different than the big boys except that I can not irrigate as much or as often as others. The soil is completely different here than Mid America and Keith Keppel' soil.

I know the iris I just planted for all the new ones this year are putting on nice increases except for the ones that are the MTB, but got those later than all the others.

I am so jazzed about getting all the lines all in, and all the siberians, Japanese, and species iris. Now to finish fall cleanup.
