You sure know your morning glories, Gerris.
I have two moon flowers on a trellis this year, swallowing it and reaching for they sky as I expected. Next year, something smaller, maybe a Japanese MG or a cardinal climber.
Plant it and they will come.

Thank you, Sally. I have not had good luck with moonflower (Ipomoea alba). I should try it again.

Should be soon, Gita. One of mine started only recently.

Joseph, do you have a favorite morning glory source?

I'll save some moonflower seeds.
Plant it and they will come.

Emma Hill sells new and exciting cultivars every year. A Japanese person sells on ebay, as does Emma. I don't remember the Japanese seller's name.

The seller's name in Japan is azuremore.

This red speckled flower - variegated yellow leaf Japanese morning glory made this nice bloom this morning.

Thanks, Sally!

Here is a couple views of the first flower from another Ipomoea albivenia plant. The yellow is a bit darker than the other plant I've previously shown (crinkly flower). Two blooms opened tonight and the fragrance was quite strong. I could smell it 1 meter away.

Joseph, I had no idea that morning glories opened at night...I thought it was only in the morning. And I had no idea that some have a fragrance!

My very first experience growing from seed was an annual morning glory I purchased. This was in 19xx...when we bought our first home in Oahu. I planted the seeds in a pot with a tomato cage for the vines to grow on. Every morning I looked forward to seeing the beautiful blooms. So morning glories are something of a sentimental thing for me. Angel

And now, thanks to you, I will grow morning glories again. And I am happy we were able to do a seed exchange...adenium seeds for morning glory seeds. Smiling

RJ, I hope that you had been able to enjoy diving, boonie-stomping, and the fiestas while you were here!

Fragrant MGs? Be still my heart!!! Lovey dubby
“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...
