Anyone know the proper name for this annual? Common name is "Firecracker." Leathery leaves, orange spiky flowers.

Possibly Crossandra infundibuliformis The leaves look right, but the flower is hard to say for sure

My first thought was a Clerodendrum. But...

Common names can be misleading. I'm thinking it looks like... Mexican Honeysuckle (Justicia 'Sidicaro')

And if that's the case, it is in fact a perennial.

edit... Maybe annual in your zone though.

More precisely, it might not be hardy in your area, might be sold with the annuals to avoid unrealistic expectations, but always a perennial. If not a true annual, saving inside or in a greenhouse is always a theoretical option, conditions permitting.

Just found this one, that does in fact include your "common name"... Mexican Honeysuckle (Justicia spicigera)

edit... But I think the first one may actually be it. The leaves are a better match.

Tara, you're right about the leaves. Plant must be Justicia sidicaro. Thanks all.
