When to plant Witchhazel

I want to plant a witchhazel tree(shrub). It's almost August and I live in Kansas, should I wait until September or later?

I have a witchhazel i planted in late summer about 3 years ago. It has struggled the whole time. If i had it to do over again I would plant it in early spring.
