I agree, it looks like Horsehead Philodendron (Philodendron bipennifolium) also called Fiddleleaf Philodendron, Fiddle Leaf Philodendron

How did this plant gain a cultivar name? There isn't a cultivar, just the species with various common names.

Not patented, according to Dave's:

I see that our database also shows a cultivar, 'Panda' and I've always known Panda Plant as a common name for http://garden.org/plants/searc...

Lindsey, sorry I didn't phrase that well. I didn't mean your specific plant but the species in general.

I doubt the panda and splash Gordon names are genuinely patented cultivars, just common names, all the exact same plant. The golden/lime colored one is different, and the variegated. Can anyone find any documentation of those 2 names being cultivars?
