Winter blooms can be especially enchanting and are very much appreciated by most gardeners. The genus Schlumbergera provides us with beautiful blooms during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays and beyond. Tee you answered all questions I have had over the years about the Schlumbergera (holiday cactus). I always wondered why they had different shaped leaves and it took me forever to learn how to get them to bloom.

Good information! I've had mine bloom unexpectedly with no special preparation, and left outside to the elements. They're tough little plants.
