Oh yeah, not too bad standing in the greenhouse, a bit musty. A bit worse when you get up close of course.

That is awsome...even Bill was impressed and he ALWAYS grumbles when I drag him in to see a pic or post. Rolling my eyes. Rolling my eyes.

They have one at UConn which bloomed last June. I'm hoping one blooms this year. All super pics Sue.

I wonder if UC Berkeley will have one this year, my shots are from 2007.
I just found this nice picture blog from their 2010 bloom, you have to scroll sideways to see them all. As you can see by the surrounding pots, they have at least 4 of them.
http://botanicalgarden.berkele...

and another one http://botanicalgarden.berkele...

They hand pollinate them each time so that they can grow out more seeds. They take a long time to bloom, in that last link, that plant was raised from a seed from 1995 and bloomed for the first time in 2008. So if you ever get a chance to see one, it's worth it! I have gone twice and in person, it truly is an amazing plant!

I love this plant, featured in Bezare botanticals a true wonder of the mind.

it is said the tubers can reach weights of 90 kg!! and I wonder after flowering do you still keep the plant or do you throw it out? Some sites say they die and others say they live but re flower every other year once they reach the 10 year old mark. Sticking tongue out

wish I had a greenhouse/the means to grow one. Whistling
