Same happens here, Melanie. Those red-bellies are fast flyers and aggressive and they do chase everybody else away. But at least they never stay too long.

I have to go get some more seed tomorrow for my bird feeders. Little hungry birdies have gone though the last of it today, so . . Wow, I think I spend more money feeding birds than I do feeding my cat!

It's my birthday! And in addition to my traditional Tropical Storm, I got the Squirrel Solutions Seed Saver 200 Wild Bird Feeder! Check it out here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AUFIQ1U/

Dad and I had been discussing getting a better bird feeder. He was reading reviews and told me the Squirrel Buster ones had some negative reviews because larger birds were getting thrown off the feeder, too! Oh no! So I guess he decided this one would be best. I figure this should prove a great source of amusement, and I wonder how long the squirrels will keep trying to get on it.

Meanwhile, it's raining outside. Duh. I filled the bird feeder full yesterday because I wasn't sure what birds do in a tropical storm situation. I thought they might not want to wander far from home - and I'm fairly certain my trees are home to a lot of them - and so far I've seen what I think is the juvenile Cardinal and several Tufted Titmice on the feeder. It's really dark outside so it's hard to tell. But I'm glad I'm keeping the birds fed through this weather. Thumbs up

Thanks, everyone! I'm the ripe old age of 37 today. But considering the nap I just took, I feel much older. Rolling on the floor laughing Time to go get my pill to take with dinner (I'm low on potassium). Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

The dimples keep me young! I have to go get my passport done on the 13th and I'm trying to figure out how to tame my hair but still look recognizable. Rolling on the floor laughing

Obviously, I have to wait until after the rain before I try out the bird feeder, but I told everyone I'll make sure we're all around to enjoy watching the squirrels give it a try. Big Grin

I adore dimples & have not a one myself. Well, one thing is NOT to get the photo done on a rainy day -- YIKES, the frizzies! Blinking

The cute little bird in the video is what in England we call a goldfinch (looks very different to the US goldfinch):

We have them nesting in one of our hedges. Like your goldfinches, they go completely mad for sunflower seed kernels.

I knew it was some kind of finch but not which. Beautiful markings on them! Sweet songs too.
