bought at a high school plant sale. it only said magnolia, didn't say what kind. can anyone tell me what kind this is? the leaves are about 9 inches long. they are a very light green, not at all glossy, and a few of them have a slight reddish-brown tinge. the undersides are not markedly lighter. no flower buds present.

Maybe someone else can be more specific but I'd guess maybe M. tripetala or M. macrophylla?

oh em GEE those pages are great!

I looked everywhere for magnoli pictures that showed the leaves- I kept running into flower pictures.

The second link looks like it's going to be fascinating and invaluable for all kind of shee-it. I stare up at trees alot wondering what they are.
